MP3 Plugin - Windows Live Writer / VB.net 2005
I’ve been busy today, writing my first published plugin for Windows Live Writer.
My new “Insert MP3 Player” plugin is a small Quiktime MP3 player that can be embedded in blog post.
I’ve only tested this on:
- Internet Explorer (8.0)
- Firefox (3.0.1)
- Blogger
I built my “Insert MP3 Player” plugin with the free version of “VB.net 2005 Express”. The plugin can be downloaded, on the “Windows Live Writer Plugin Gallery”.
Here is how to install the MP3 plugin:
- Make sure that “Windows Live Writer” is closed
- Download the MP3 plugin to your PC desktop
- After the Plugin is downloaded to your PC desktop, double click the MSI Installer
- Follow the instructions in the MSI Installer, the plugin will be installed in your PC, at “C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Writer\Plugins” by default.
Below is the plugin in action..

Search Google - for Music
Google is great for searching out webpages, but did you know Google will search for music, video, or just about any type of media? I’ve used the search string hacks for a couple of years now, to find mp3 music. That’s all fine & dandy, the problem is all those long search strings start getting annoying after a while.
So anyway, a while back I was doing a Google mp3 search, & came across a site that will let you enter only the info you really care about (song title, etc…), at first I thought hey this is kinda cool, then I got to searching & thought hey this is GREAT!
Why is googlemusicsearch.com so great, well first, after you do a music search, you get the usual looking Google search results, here’s the kicker, at the bottom of each search result is a link “scan for music”, what this does is scan the search links for mp3 files, without ever leaving the search results page, then displays the results in the same search results page, & provides all the mp3 download links, all without ever leaving the search results page, now that’s cool!
Google does not own the music search site, they only provide search results.

CamBam – Creating New Layers
In this tutorial, we will add a new layer to a single layer dxf file, inside the free version of "CamBam [Beta 0.8] Rel 2". I am working with Design21, a free dxf file.
1) Open CamBam (this will start a new project)
2) “File / Open” (This will open a windows prompt) select a dxf file on your PC, & click the “Open” button.
3) Right click on the “Layers” text in the Layers Tree (Left side of the screen)
4) In the properties pane, rename the layer, & change the color of the layer (the screenshot below has the properties name changed to “Holes”, & the layer color changed to “Lime”)
5) Hold down the “Ctrl” key on the keyboard, & “Left” click to select multiple dxf objects in the drawing area.
6) “Edit / Copy” (this will copy all the selected objects to memory)
7) “Left” click on the “Holes” layer we created earlier (make sure the “Holes” layer is highlighted)
8) “Edit / Paste” (this will paste a copy of the dxf objects we selected in previous step)
Note:
We now have a new dxf layer, a few things to mention, If you “Right” click on the “Holes” layer in our example, you will have a few self explanatory options (Set as Active Layer, Hide, Show, Delete, Clear, Select All on Layer).
When finished with this example I deleted the default layer “0”, so I wouldn’t have any duplicate layers/vectors.
